Student Council Information
The Student Council plays a vital role in enhancing student involvement in school decision-making and teaching the principles of democracy. Each class elects one representative through a secret ballot after they present their qualifications as candidates, serving as the voice of their class for the school year.
Meeting Details:
- Frequency: The Student Council meets every Thursday.
- Facilitators: Meetings are guided by teachers Mr. O'Dowd, Ms. Breen, and Mr. Walsh. Council representatives gather ideas and suggestions from their classmates prior to each meeting.
- Agenda: Suggestions are discussed, prioritized, and then presented to the school principal and staff meetings.
Recent Initiatives:
Our Student Council has successfully implemented several positive changes in the school, including:
- Wellbeing days
- Fundraising for new sports equipment and charities
- Enhancements to the school yard
- Organizing special events
- Improvements to the school library
Each member of the Student Council is assigned a specific role, such as president, secretary, photographer, display monitor, or communication liaison.
Upcoming Event: Halloween Art Display Competition
The Student Council is excited to announce a Halloween Art Display Competition! Each class will create a themed display chosen by the representatives:
- 3rd Class: Pumpkins
- 4th Class: Graveyard
- 5th Class: Haunted House
- 6th Class: Skeletons
